This Indian chest has a secret compartment in the top for storingĀ valuables such as textiles, jewellery and cash. The finials show a clear influence of Jainism and as such, this was likely originally owned by a Jain family.Ā
They were usually made from Teak, rosewood or jackfruit wood.
Our pieces are mostly from the 19th century & occasionally 18th and early 20th century.
