An Indian brass hollow head representing the goddess Gauri (the Glowing One) also known as Parvati who was the consort of Shiva and epitomised marital fidelity and devotion.
As the story goes, Parvati was scorned by her husband Shiva for the colour of her skin and so changed her skin colour to gold becoming Gauri, "The Golden One."
With chiseled features with large almond-shaped white painted eyes, a bindi on their foreheads, and their black hair in a single plait with hair ornaments.Ā
