Carved & Painted Teak Window Shutter From South Rajasthan - 19thC
These carved teak jali window shutters are particularly unusual and have an interesting mix of influences from both Mughal and Chinese designs. The lower panels are classically carved Mughal patterns and the top design is the Chinese 'Running Dog' motif. Made and repainted in the 19th century, the paint has distressed over time with the hot weather that is indicative of the state of Gujarat, India.
These panels would be an iconic piece hung on any wall of a contemporary or traditional home and are a favourite of Tom, one of the owners of Indigo Antiques.
