This food bowl is from the tribal area of Nagaland in the North Eastern area of India bordering Myanmar. These food bowls were used every day by the Konyak tribe and other Nagaland tribes for eating meals. It is beautifully patinated. 

 

Nagaland is still a tribal area with the Konyak tribe being one of the largest tribes. Historically, the tribes of Nagaland were head-hunters going to war with neighboring tribes. Men of the tribes were heavily tattooed across their bodies including on their faces. This culture changed dramatically with modern Christianity in the early 20th century.
