A 19thĀ century Rajasthani tribal silver amulet depictingĀ theĀ Durga, the Hindu warrior goddess. She is also known as theĀ divine motherĀ &Ā Durga the invincible.Ā Durga is the embodiment of feminine and creative energy, however, she is often known asĀ The DestroyerĀ of hatred, anger, jealousy, and selfishness.Ā TheĀ singleĀ eyelet at the top allows for suspension via a cord or chain. This amulet comes with a modern snake chain.Ā

These traditional tribal silver amulets come from Rajasthan and are made by theĀ repousse technique (hammering the design from the reverse). Although high silver content, these pieces are not always sterling silver. These amulets would have originated in temples and been worn by pilgrims.Ā
